A police officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Nakuru North Division has committed suicide.

The officer has been identified as 57-year-old Erastus Waweru Wang'ombe.

According to Nakuru North OCPD Edward Wafula who confirmed the incident, Waweru's body was found by his employee John Okoth on Thursday evening.

The body was found at a water tank house adjacent to the main house.

Waweru is survived by two wives. The incident is reported to have occurred at the first wife's house.

The OCPD said investigations have been launched into the incident to find out what could have led Waweru to take his own life as he didn't leave any note behind.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Nakuru County mortuary.
