Mariba said parents who have failed to take their children to school risk arrest.

"I'm not going to allow any child to remain at home, yet the government is offering free education. Parents who will fail to take their children to join Form One by February 15, will be arrested to face prosecution," Mariba said.

The commissioner confirmed that he has already met education stakeholders and local chiefs to ensure no child is left out.

"Chiefs should ensure children loitering in their jurisdiction areas are reported to police so that a follow up can be done. Parents need to be responsible," he added.

Mariba challenged Nyamira residents to invest in their children through education.

"Children are future leaders but without education, we won't have leaders. Instead, we will have criminals," Mariba said.

He warned the residents against trading in illicit brew stating that it must come to an end no matter what.
