Amani National Congress (ANC) boss Musalia Mudavadi has revealed the content of the deal signed between him, President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Deputy President William Ruto in 2012.
Speaking on PointBlank Wednesday, Mudavadi narrated how the Uhuru and Ruto duped him into thinking they would back him in the 2013 general elections.
The agreement that the two would shelve their presidential bid in his favour was signed in Mudavadi's Riverside home on the night of December 4.
The one-page document which was dramatically signed and said that among others, the announcement that Uhuru has stepped down from the race would be made open in 14 days.
"The agreement between Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi”, the pact read:
The two leaders of the coalition parties hereby agree as follows:
1. That Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta shall step down as the presidential candidate of the coalition, and 2. That Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi shall be the coalition’s presidential candidate. These details shall be announced within 14 days from the date of signing," it read, according to the Standard.
The deal was signed by Uhuru and Mudavadi and witnessed by lawyers Desterion Oyatsi and Dan Ameyo.
However, Uhuru would disown the deal only two days later, the next Tuesday.
On December 18, while speaking at the Multimedia University, he referred to Mudavadi as an evil force.
