There was drama on Tuesday evening at Gesusu area in, Kisii County after angry locals apprehended a man and his wife who have been conning locals.
Brian Omache and his wife Jackline Gesare were apprehended from their house.
"The couple has been swindling money from us on grounds that they will offer us supermarket job opportunities. We can't continue living with them in the village since they are thieves," said an angry local Jackson Oroo.
Edinah Okeyo accused the couple of demanding Sh5,000 from her promising that they could help her secure a hotel job in Kisii town.
"I paid them Sh5,000 after they assured me that they will help me get a hotel job given that I am a chef. Efforts to reach them for a job have been in vain since the phone number they gave me wasn't going through," she noted.
Area assistant chief Michael Onchoke lauded the villagers for taking the bold decision without any harm to the couple.
"I am happy that the couple were not hurt. Villagers nabbed and surrendered them to Nyacheki police station," he said.
Ochoke assured residents that the couple will be arraigned in court on Friday once villagers who have been conned write a statement at the station, and accept to testify as witnesses before the court.
