Deputy President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that there is enough food and they should not panic as hunger and starvation bites in some parts of the country.
Ruto says the national government has disptached relief food to all counties facing hunger and starvation.
Speaking in Mandera Town on Saturday, Ruto said that the relevant government agencies have promptly responded to starvation facing Kenyans in some counties.
The Deputy President stated that the government will make sure no Kenyan dies of hunger.
"Relevant state agencies are on the ground assessing the situation and also distributing out relief food to affected Kenyans," the Deputy President said.
He asked Kenyans affected by starvation not to panic assuring them that they will get relief food.
Ruto who was in company of Devolution Cabinet Secretary (CS) Eugene Wamalwa said the government is working with development partners to ensure Kenyans in drought hit counties get the required support.
The Deputy President asked politicians to stop politicising the drought situation being experienced in some parts of the country.
According to the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) several counties are facing hunger and starvation as a result of prolonged drought.
The counties include Baringo, Turkana, Kilifi, Makueni, Kitui, Tana River, Isiolo, Mandera, Garissa, Wajir, Lamu and Elgeyo Marakwet.
As the drought in some parts of the country continue to bite, the national government has refuted claims that some people have starved to death in Turkana and Baringo.
This comes as a section of politicians among them Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has made foodstuff donations to counties hit with drought.
