Local political pundits point out that there are only two formidable potential candidates to succeed Mandago.

The two, as per the analysts are Ambassador of Kenya to Pakistan Prof Julius Bittok and the businessman Zedekiah Bindotich alias Buzeki.

“Buzeki has got a fair ground to start; having almost 50 per cent of votes at hand though that may not guarantee him to win in 2022. He has to change the tact and up his game than when he was just a political beginner,” Moses Kosgei, a political analyst said.

Former County Assembly aspirant Joseph Kogei on his opinion stated that ideological differences between the duo are that Buzeki is a smart businessman that focuses on youth empowerment while Amb. Bittok is a good administrator, an experience he has gained serving as an ambassador.

“If Bittok's current movements across the county are accommodative, then he earns himself a credit mark. He comes from Kesses region which is a vote-rich bloc that gave a boost to the incumbent governor in the last election,” Kogei who doubles up as a youth caucus leader said.

However, the two political pundits agree that as the current factors remain constant, Buzeki and Bittok are frontrunners to succeed Mandago in 2022.
