The war of words between Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga escalated on Thursday after the former responded to corruption allegations made by the latter.
At Kirinyaga on Thursday, Ruto accused Mr Odinga of peddling lies against him, adding that the former PM 'represents impunity' and that he does not have moral authority to lecture him.
"The question I am being asked is like a hyena asking a herdsman what is the interest in your herd. In the last elections you accused your competitor of stealing Eurobond and now you are accusing your future competitor of stealing from Dams. Take your evidence to DCI and EACC"
.He further said:"You (Raila) are the most ugly face of impunity. You have no legitimacy to lecture anyone."
Mr Odinga accused Ruto of being a suspect in the alleged loss of Sh21 billion, questioning his decision to quickly dismiss probe by DCI George Kinoti.
The former Prime Minister also questioned Ruto's commitment in the fight against graft, accusing him of sabotaging investigations by government agencies.
"You are not an investigator. Why are you responding? Why do you panic? You are telling us it's not Sh21 billion, it's Sh7 billion, how did you know that?" he said.
