National Assembly Majority leader and Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has found himself in conflict with Governor Korane over the eviction of traders at Qorahey market in Garissa Town.
This happens even as Governor Korane firmly stated that the traders will have to be relocated to pave room for new repairs and upgrading of the business area.
Speaking in Garissa Town, Duale strongly opposed Governor Ali Korane's proposals to relocate Qorahey market to a new site, saying the eviction is a scheme by the county government to put the land to a different use.
"Not a single trader will be evicted from Qorahey market. Not today or even tommorrow. The proposal from the county government is misplaced. I wish to differ with that proposal because I know how the market place will later be used for," stated Duale.
In August this year, traders staged protests opposing the move by Korane's government to relocate them.
Local politicians opposed to Korane had alleged that the relocation exercise was a scheme to grab the marketplace.
