A TV journalist will spend 30 days behind bars after investigations by Anti-Terror Police Unit unmasked his link to DusitD2 attackers.
Ismael Ambitham, who works for Horizon TV as a social media representative, is said to have been in constant communication with Ali Salim Gichunge.
He was arrested on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
Gichunge has been marked by police as having been the mastermind of the DusitD2 attack on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.
Six gunmen stormed the hotel complex in an attack that left 21 people dead.
Speaking at the Milimani Law courts on Wednesday, ATPU’s inspector Monicah Githaiga said the journalist was also in communication with Gichunge’s wife Violet Kemunto.
The investigators said Ambitham’s phone showed that he was also in constant communication with other networks in Somalia who are believed to be members of Al-Shabaab.
The court allowed the police to hold the journalist for 30 days as investigations continue.
