Police are now investigating a case in which a Modern Coast bus burst into flames on Saturday morning while on its way to Mtito Andei at Samburu, Kwale County.
According to reports, the bus with number plate KBZ 820N is said to have been empty at the time of the incident, therefore, no casualties were reported.
Confirming the incident, Kwale County Commissioner Karuku Ngumo said that the bus had come from Mombasa before being engulfed with fire at Mtito Andei.
"No one was injured as it would appear that the bus had no passengers at the time," Ngumo reported.
However, the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
It is understood that such incidents are on the rise across the country as earlier in the week another matatu ferrying passengers along Juja Road, Nairobi also burst into flames.
Modern Coast management is yet to release a statement concerning this bizzare incident.
