Uasin Gishu County Assembly has approved all the nine nominees of Governor Jackson Mandago for the Eldoret Municipal Board.
While moving the motion for the adoption of his Committee of Physical Planning report, Soy MCA Nicholas Tallam praised the nominees as seasoned professionals who will steer Eldoret to greater heights.
“The nominees are suitable for the positions and attributed themselves well showing they are competent for the positions,” said Tallam.
“The nominees had gender balance and youths as required by law,” he added.
Hon Gilbert Tenai, MCA Cheptiret/Kipchamo ward said the nine nominees met the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on integrity and were candid in their vetting.
The full constitution of Eldoret Municipal Board and implementation of Eldoret Municipal charter will unlock millions in funding from World Bank and hasten the attainment of City Status for Eldoret.
The nominees include Walter Keya from Jua Kali Uasin Gishu Association, Geoffrey Kirui from Uasin Gishu Urban Forum, Winny Chelagat Maru (Kenya Private Sector Association), Richard Omunyala (Kenya Alliance of Residents Association) and Dr Job Kipkurgat Ngetich (Association of Professional Societies in East Africa).
Others include Evelyn Chesang Mitei, Julius Kitur, Peter Mwaniki Mwangi and Beatrice Githui.
Speaker David Kiplagat presided over the session.
