An angry husband attacked his wife of 6 years over breastfeeding on Sunday in Itibo village, Kisii County.
Edwin Machoka said he did beat his wife, Yvonne Kemunto because she stopped breastfeeding their 1-year-old daughter.
“My wife has been rude to me since I married her 6 years ago. She stopped breastfeeding our daughter and when I questioned her why she did it she started throwing abusive words which angered me leading to the beating,” he said.
Machoka said Kemunto doesn’t go to work and she was cheated by other idling women in the village to stop breastfeeding the daughter who is still young.
Philip Nyang’au, area assistant chief confirmed the incident and said Kemunto was rescued by neighbors who responded to her screams.
Nyang’au urged women to engage in constructive activities which will help them grow.
