This comes only three days after President Uhuru Kenyatta, in his state of the nation address on Thursday refused to sack state officials implicated in graft.

And though Raila immediately backed the decision, stressing on the need for the rule of law to be observed, Sifuna has taken a personal issue with the President's decision.

Speaking on Monday, Sifuna said that it broke his heart seeing the President fail to use his executive powers to rid the government of persons mentioned in corruption.

"Taarifa ya Uhuru eti hatafuta mtu ilinivunja moyo sana. Amepewa nguvu kikatiba, iweje anaogopa kufanya yanayostahili kufanywa (the president really broke my heart, he should have used his powers to do the necessary)," he said.

The former Nairobi senatorial aspirant was speaking on Radio Citizen's Jambo Kenya show, Monday morning.

He termed Uhuru a possible victim of political lords or corruption cartels who appear to have him tied to the ground to prevent him from fighting them.

"Huenda alifanya vile kwa sababu za kisiasa ama amefungwa mikono kwa njia moja ama nyingine. Sasa ni wakati wa wakenya kujitokeza na kuchukua nchi yao.

(This could be a result of some political issues or he is being held at ransom by some cartels. This calls  for the intervention of Kenyans to help him out on this one)," he added.

In the address, Uhuru, however, vowed to continue empowering the relevant bodies tasked with the job to fight the menace, as he seeks to leave a legacy of a corruption-free country.
