More details are emerging on a case where a personal assistant to a Cabinet Secretary (CS) allegedly defiled his 16-year-old daughter in a Nakuru hotel.
The suspect is said to have picked the girl from their home in Emining, Baringo, and holed her up in a high-end Nakuru hotel.
The hotel charges between Sh14, 000 and Sh50, 000 a night.
Sources said the incident took place on Sunday night.
By Monday morning, police officers received frantic calls to apprehend the suspect.
A team of Flying Squad was sent to track the man who was arrested and taken to Bondeni police station.
The suspect, who was to be charged in the afternoon before a Nakuru court, was later taken to the office of Nakuru OCPD.
It then emerged that there were efforts to keep the case a secret and deny media the story.
Journalists who were pursuing the story were taken in rounds, but they were able to smoke out a magistrate, court clerk and a prosecutor at the Nakuru OCPD’s office where the suspect was reportedly held.
It is still not clear whether the suspect was charged.
The mother of the girl, and wife to the Cabinet Secretary, was heard telling police officers to make sure they ‘protect my family by ensuring this story does not leak’.
