Amani National Leader Musalia Mudavadi has left tongues wagging after he secretly met a group of influential businessmen from the Mt Kenya region.
Mudavadi held talks with the figures on Saturday at Gatanga in a closed-door meeting that took hours.
The meeting was held at the home of Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe.
Murathe is one of the figures that are close to the Kenyatta family and he has been an insider of President Uhuru Kenyatta since 2013 when they formed The National Alliance and later merged with United Republican Party to form Jubilee.
The Saturday meeting took place after Mudavadi attended a burial in Gatanga.
Interestingly, even the area MP Nduati Ngugi was not invited in the meeting.
“It is true I hosted the gentleman at my home for hours. But we were just having a normal talk as you have with your buddies,” Murathe said.
Sources said among those who attended the meeting is Capt Kung’u Muigai who is Uhuru’s cousin among other high flying Mt Kenya businessmen.
The meeting came days after Mudavadi was seen as the only critic of President Uhuru Kenyatta left after Raila Odinga agreed to work with Uhuru and Kalonzo agreed to be the head of state’s errand boy.
He questioned Uhuru over the raising debt during the burial of Kalonzo’s father in Tseikuru.
