Facebook is a major platform that has connected the young generation not only in Uasin Gishu county but also across the country.
Students who subscribe to social media, preferably Facebook which has a wide interactive space to overseas, have the tales to tell on impacts of the media at their personal lives.
An ICT degree holder from Moi University David Kiptoo shared his story stating that he first met his lover through Facebook, the relationship lasted for five years.
“I joined Facebook in 2007 when I was in my first year in university and I was able to meet with the beautiful girl who was schooling at KMTC in Eldoret,” Kiptoo narrated.
A business lady in Uasin Gishu's capital, Eldoret, however, lamented of a man she approached on her Facebook inbox. He seduced her and took advantage of her naivety to win her heart.
“We agreed to meet in Eldoret town, we talked over a cup of tea and for me I couldn't read any suspicion only to spent the night together and the following morning we parted, to date we have never met,” the lady who identified herself as Sheila said, discouraged by the womanizer whom she said lowered her dignity.
Life coach Bernard Kosgei on his part encouraged youths not to easily give in to the people meeting online, arguing them to remain vigilant and cautious whenever they are exchanging contents in the social media.
“We should not be daring, some people might appear genuine in what they mean but viciously targets to ‘hit and run’,” Kosgei said.
