In a video shared by Lemiso Sato Emmanuel on Facebook, Mandago welcomed all guests to the event, adding that the town is calm and ready to receive the president.

Mandago urged Kenyans to ignore claims that the ground was jittery due to ethnic tension occasioned by perceived divisions in the Jubilee party.

"The president is welcomed in Eldoret; those media reports claiming that there's tension are not factual, people are relaxed and waiting for the president.

"Some of the reports you are seeing in social media, I can say, are some of the illusions of a writer of fiction. The truth of the matter is...there is no tension here in Eldoret," he said.

He noted that the factory being revamped would boost the county's economy.

"This factory means a lot to this county. In terms of investment, and in terms of the jobs it is going to create," argued the governor.

Mandago made the remarks in reaction to a Daily Nation story claiming that the president's handlers were not comfortable with area MP Oscar Sudi officiating the event.
