Speaking on Thursday at Gusii Stadium during the Jamhuri day celebrations, Kisii Governor James Ongwae said residents deserve to provided with enough security during the festivities.

"I urge our brothers and sisters in the police force across the county to ensure residents are safe while they celebrate Christmas and Happy New," said the county chief.

He requested them to increase patrols within the area to ensure that criminals do not take advantage of the festive season to disturb the peace of the residents.

"My humble request to the police is that they should intensify patrols across the county to ensure criminals who may take advantage of the festivities to terrorize residents are not given room," he stated.

The county boss appealed to police bosses in the county to liaise with the county askaris to ensure Kisii town and its environs is safe during the festive season.

According to the second-term governor, every resident should celebrate the festive season in peace without any security challenges.

"Kisii region has been peaceful and I do not expect the region to be insecure to our people and visitors who may come to spend the festive season in Kisii. Security officers should be alert to avert any crime," he added.
