The probe into the multi-billion shilling Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal has gained momentum after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji ordered the arrest of several government officials.

The officers include Henry Rotich (Treasury Cabinet Secretary), Kamau Thugge (Treasury Principal Secretary), Jackson Kinyanjui (Treasury Director of resource mobilization) among others.

Addressing the media on Monday, Haji admitted that he has faced endless challenges in the probe into the loss of billions in the dams scandal.

“Upon investigations by the DCI, it was established that the conception, procurement and payment process for the Arror and Kimwarer dam projects in Elgeyo Marakwet County were riddled with massive illegalities.

"Public corruption is a blatant abuse of power by persons in positions of authority and it threatens the very fabric of our society. Nobody is above the law no matter how powerful," he said.

He noted that his office has put in place measures to ensure that the suspects are brought to book with immediate effect.
