A man died on spot on Sunday following a fatal road accident which occurred in Chebilat in Nyamira County.
Confirming the accident, Borabu assistant county commissioner Michael Lesmum said the deceased who could not be identified immediately was crossing the road when he was knocked down.
"The had crossed the road when a speeding matatu driver knocked him down at the pedestrian lane. He died on spot and the driver sped off," he said.
The police boss warned motorists using the route to be cautious especially during this festive season.
"Members of the public tried to chase after the matatu in vain. The body of the deceased was moved to Kapkatet hospital morgue," he stated.
Lesmum challenged the public to keep off the busy road saying some drivers may be driving under the influence of alcohol.
"We don't want to continue witnessing more deaths in the area. The public should be keen when walking on the busy road from Chebilat to Keroka," said Lesmum.
He assured that the killer driver is being pursued to be apprehended before he will be arraigned in court.
