A man accused of stabbing his brother-in-law to death six years ago in Nyatieko, Marani Sub County in Kisii County was on Monday arraigned before a Kisii court and charged with murder.
The court heard that the suspect Sospeter Mokono armed with a sharp kitchen knife stabbed the deceased Robert Osoro Ochora on December, 30, 2012 several times after a heated quarrel ensued between them over a woman's love.
The prosecution further revealed that police officers have been hunting down the suspect who went into hiding immediately he committed the offence.
The court was told that the suspect was angered by Ochora's decision to seduce a woman he (Mokono) was having an affair with.
Mokono appeared before Magistrate David Majanja and pleaded not guilty.
The suspect appealed to the court to release him on bond arguing that he won't boycott court proceedings in vain.
Majanja ruled that the suspect may boycott attending court proceedings given that he has been on the run for the last 6 years since he killed Ochora.
He directed police officers to lock the suspect in remand at Kisii Main Prisons.
The magistrate set the hearing of the case to be on February 26, 2019.
