This follows reports that the force was unable to find the material earlier, claims that were however rubbished by Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i.

Confirming the deal, Moi University Vice Chancellor Isaac Kosgei said that the institution will collaborate with the Rivatex Company which will do the uniform production part.

"Rivatex Company is leading in textile manufacturing and I am happy to note that we have signed a deal with the police so that we can assist them in producing the garments," Koskei was quoted by the Standard.

He was speaking in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County during the institution's 37th graduation ceremony where he noted that the institution has all it takes to produce fabric for such purposes.

The VC further pointed out that the university will as well reach out to other disciplined bodies in search of such deployments going forward.

"We are reaching out to other disciplined forces, including National Youth Service (NYS), to produce for them their intended fabric because we have all the necessary tools," he added.

The deal was also confirmed by Rivatex Managing Director Thomas Kipkurgat who revealed that the factory hosted top security officers last week, as they visited to inspect the factory's capacity to produce the garments.

The factory is based in Eldoret town.
