Residents of Arda Dadaja area in Mandera are living in shock after news emerged of a middle-aged man who reportedly laid an egg in a suspected case of witchcraft.
According to witnesses who spoke to this writer in confidence, the man reportedly laid an egg on Friday last week, just a day after returning from exile.
Further reports indicate that the man who popularly goes by the name Inkihbin, had been exiled from the village several years ago after being found guilty of raping a granny who is also his kin.
"He lay an egg resembling that of a bird. It is bigger than that of a bird but smaller than a hen's. I saw it with my two eyes," said Khalif Juno, a resident of Arda Dadaja.
"He is paying for his sins. It is a punishment from Allah'Allah," said another witness who only identified herself as Sofia.
It is said Inkihbin fled to Ukambani after relatives threatened to kill him in 2002 when he committed the indecent act on his paternal grandmother.
Though residents believe that the case might be a punishment from Allah, others hold the view that he might have committed another grave crime while in exile before getting bewitched.
Elders are, however, said to have commenced plans to cleanse the said man before he can freely mingle with neighbours and his relatives.
