On Jun 16, 2017, a video showing a male supporter of Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua being ejected from a matatu by female supporters went viral.
In the video, which was shared by Nairobi News, the women are seen shutting down Mutua’s supporters.
One of the annoyed women, who was identified as Rozinna Kanini, a supporter of Wiper party, went ahead to give the conductor money asking him to refund the fare for Mutua’s supporter. The drama continued when that man tried to convince them that the governor had done his best.
“What is Chap Chap. You look like Nyenze. Alight from this matatu, here is his fare refund and get him out,” says one of the women.
Another woman warns the man against disrespecting former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.
“Why are you disrespecting Kalonzo? Get out. Wavinya is the governor. Get out. If you want more fare money we will give you but you have to go. You can’t disrespect our leader,” the women shout.
In response to the video, Kalonzo said that he was surprised that Kenyans no longer want lies when it comes to matters affecting them. Mutua, however, went ahead and won the seat despite an existing case pending at the Supreme Court.
