A vernacular song circulating on social media has yet again ignited rift within the ruling Jubilee party with DP William Ruto's allies calling for the prosecution of the musician behind it.
The song released by Kimani wa Turacco seems to dismiss narrative that Central Kenya owes Ruto having supported President Uhuru Kenyatta for two successive elections.
And a host of leaders have waded into the debate, accusing the musician of allegedly planting seeds of discord within the country.
"The song is released in bad faith and the man behind it should be prosecuted," said Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose.
Nyamira Women Rep Jerusha Momanyi said: "Ruto has backed Uhuru for two elections. Saying that there is no debt is misleading Kenyans."
On Sunday at All Saints Cathedral, Ruto insisted he too does not owe any community other than the love to other people.
"The only thing I owe people is love. This other debt does not exist. Let us all support unity and prosperity."
