Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

Here are some of the silly questions asked in the region:

1. Iweya gi dhoga?

Village folks are fond of using this phrase when a visitor seems to be planning to leave without dishing any handouts.

It translates to ''are you leaving us with our mouths?'', and is aimed at forcing out some money.

The excuse here is that the money needed is to be used on food.

Its usually met with an ''idwa ni adhi gi dhogi (was I supposed to leave with your mouth?" response.

2. Iweya nang'o?

Just like the first one, this one is also used to swindle some money out of the other person.

It translates to "How are you leaving me?", another silly and straightforward question which only the one asking can answer.

3. Ichopo?

This one translates to "have you arrived?", a question used to harass visitors once they arrive.

But in real sense, why would you ask such a question yet you can see them right before you? Of course they have arrived?

4. Ochiek?

It translates to "So the food is ready?"The question is used to harass women in the village by the men of the house while the food is being placed on the table.

Its funny that they have to ask yet they see it right before them.
