A family at Kenyambi village, Kisii county is demanding justice after a man who is also a clan elder allegedly impregnated a 13-year-old class six girl.
The victim is a pupil at Nyankororo primary school.
Maureen Nyamari, the victim's mother said the suspect identified as Evans Nguye has been having an affair secretly with her daughter.
"Nguye has been sleeping secretly with my daughter who fell ill and I took her to Keumbu hospital where she was confirmed to be 2 months pregnant. Upon questioning her thoroughly she revealed that it is Nguyewho is responsible for her pregnancy," she said.
A frustrated Nyamari said her efforts to have the suspect arrested have been futile.
"I reported the matter to Keumbu police post but, the suspect is still walking free. The officers told to me to wait until Saturday. I feel that my daughter will not get justice. All I want is the suspect be arrested and charged in a court of law," she noted.
Area chief Michael Kwaba confirmed the incident saying he helped the victim's mother to report the matter to police.
"I will pursue the matter until the suspect is arrested," said Kwaba.
