Ijara Member of Parliament Sophia Abdi Noor took to social media Wednesday night to reveal the destruction wrought by rains in Masalani Sub County.

In her post, the legislator made a passionate appeal to relevant authorities to move in with speed to help areas that had suffered power outrages and damages as a result of the rains. 

She also pledged to give the people of Masalani her support in "this trying time."

The Masalani Sub County Hospital and a number of schools suffered destruction, she revealed.  

"Let me take this opportunity to thank the almighty Allah for blessing us with rain after a long period of drought and send my heartfelt sympathies to the over 50 families that had properties destroyed and misplaced completely and the different insitutions like masalani sub county hospital and a number  of schools. 

"KPLC poles were affected too by the strong downpour and unfortunately Masalani is without electricity at the moment and would like to appeal to the relevant bodies for swift action. I want to assure my constituents of my support during this trying time in whatever way possible and that I stand with you, " her post read in part.

The Kenya Red Cross which responds to disasters and the Kenyan Power and Lightning Company (KPLC)  were tagged in Noor's post. 

Her post was accompanied by jarring images of the extent of destruction that had transpired.
