Trade Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has responded to impeachment threats from a section of leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
This comes only a day after his name featured among leaders alleged to be planning an assassination plot against the DP.
Health CS Sicily Kariuki, Joe Mucheru (ICT), James Macharia (Transport), a host of Principal Secretaries and parastatal heads have also been accused of holding meetings in line with the plot.
Consequently, a section of lawmakers allied to the DP have since threatened to impeach Munya, who now says that the threats are coming from juveniles in Parliament.
Speaking on Tuesday, the former Meru Governor dismissed his impeachment threats as empty, linking them to persons out to politicize the issue.
"Siasa ya Kenya iko na utoto mwingi na watoto wamejaa huko Bunge (Politics in Kenya is very immature and juveniles are full in Parliament)," he said in an exclusive interview with Citizen TV.
“Those are empty threats that are intended to poison the atmosphere of our politics and make it difficult to serve wananchi," added the former county boss.
He termed the allegations heaped on them as unrealistic, judging by the security the Deputy President enjoys.
He also noted that no statement has been made with the police from the complaining quarters, which makes the claims baseless.
"Kama kuna mpango kama huo, statement ingekua huko na inaoroodhesha vizuri huo mpango, ni njia gani itatumika kumuua na atauawa namna gani… mtu ako na security ya kutosha, ofisi yake iko karibu na police station so Cabinet Secretaries wako na one bodyguard wanaweza kumuua namna gani? Ni siasa mbaya.
(If here is such a plan then a statement would be indicating the plan, the method to be used to kill him and other things. A person with enough security, his office is near a police station, yet Cabinet Secretaries only have one bodyguard, how can they kill him? This is bad politics)," he added.
The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti on Monday said that Ruto personally reached out to him over the claims.
