According to eyewitnesses, the officers from Machakos County inspectorate department pulled down the signpost due to an unclear disagreement between the two leaders.

The officers were seen driving in Machakos county government's official van during the operations.

"Hon. Mike Sonko always visits his home and invites both Nairobi and Machakos MCAs for meetings whose agenda remains unknown. So may be Mutua thinks that sonko is planing to replace him politically in Machakos County," said resident Muisyo Muli.

Muli was agrieved by Mutua's actions.

The residents expressed their dissatisfaction with the signpost's removal stating that Sonko has brought a lot of development in the area.

"We have two boreholes drilled by Sonko and we get water for free," added Muli.

The locals congratulated Sonko for bringing electricity in Mua and for helping some families connect their homes to power, something they couldn't have afforded.

"Maybe Mutua feels threatened by Sonko's achievements. But he should stop all this sideshows," said another resident who sought aninomity for fear of victimization.
