The Lions of Taranga lost 1-0 to the Algerians while Harambee Stars won 3-2 in their nail-biting fixture against their neighbours Tanzania.

Despite Senegal's loss, the West African side is ahead of Kenya in the group C table standings.

While both teams are level on 3 points apiece, Senegal is above Kenya because it has conceded fewer goals than Kenya.

Kenya has conceded two goals against Algeria and Tanzania, while Senegal has conceded only once and scored twice.

Harambee Stars has conceded more than it has scored as it has scored three goals. Senegal, on the other hand, has scored more than it has conceded.

This means that Kenya has a deficit while Senegal doesn't.

Both teams are set to meet in their final group stage match that will determine who will automatically qualify from the round of 16.

Algeria has already secured a place in the knock-out stage after winning both of its matches and is set to face Tanzania who appears to be on their way out of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
