Tuberculosis is a contagious disease caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacterium usually attacks the lungs and can also affect other body organs. One can either get the disease through inhaling the sternutation of an infected person or dust particles.

The disease is highly curable, but some home remedies could help in alleviating the symptoms of tuberculosis. 

According to nutritionist Lindsey Marcellin, MD, MPH, the right diet can also help you fight tuberculosis. 

Here are home remedies that can keep the disease at bay; 

1. Bananas

Incorporating some bananas in your diet can help you fight the scourge. This special fruit is laced with organic and powerful antioxidants which are significant when it comes to alleviating the symptoms associated with tuberculosis. 

Bananas can reduce coughing, high fever, excessive mucus production and inflammation in people suffering from TB.

 2. Pineapples 

They are very good at purging congestion  and loosening the mucus in the respiratory tracts. Eating pineapples daily can help reduce inflammation and coughing in a jiffy. 

3. Garlic 

Over the past years, the herb has been used to counteract and keeping various scourges at bay including tuberculosis. The sulphuric acid found in garlic can quell the bacterium and stop it from causing severe symptoms. You can add it to food or chew it raw.  

4. Oranges

The high concentration of vitamin C and other antioxidants in oranges can eliminate congestion in the lungs and loosen the mucus in the respiratory tracts.
