A 31-year-old man was on Tuesday charged for using disrespectful words against Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok.
Dominic Kiplangat was charged at a Bomet court with two counts, undermining the authority of a public officer as well as publishing obscene information in electronic media.
The court was informed that on diverse dates between September 22 and October 14, Kiplangat took to his Facebook and published "Does your boss knows he is the kabana because of our beloved late mother's death certificate? That he pays now without pain a single conjugal to a tune of Sh2 million." as reported by the Star.
According to the court papers, Kiplangat published the information with an intention of undermining a Governor Barchok.
He also published a similar post on his page further slandering the governor.
DCI detectives from Bomet arrested the suspect on Monday before he was arraigned in court on Tuesday before Bomet senior resident magistrate Kipkirui Kibelion.
He, however, denied all the two charges and pleaded not guilty.
Kiplangat's lawyer, Geoffrey Kipngetich, told the court his client was an orphan and that he was the sole breadwinner in his family before he asked for better bond terms.
"My client lives within the jurisdiction of this court, he is not a flight risk and we are asking that you give reasonable bail or bond," Kipngetich argued.
