One person died on the spot while at least seven others are fighting for their lives following an accident along Tombe-Kemera road.
The Friday's accident comes just a day after government imposed tough road safety regulations popularly known as 'Michuki rules' in a bid to tame rogue drivers.
A witness, Fred Onsinde said a driver to a canter attached to Tombe Tea Factory lost control, veered off the road before knocking a motorbike rider and a few pedestrians.
"He lost control and was in a very high speed. He knocked down a bodaboda rider with his customer dying instantly and some other three pedestrians.
"Occupants of the canter including the driver are also in a critical condition. Those with minor injuries were rushed to Kemera Health Center," he said.
The blackspot has claimed a number of lives especially motorbike riders since the completion of the stretch from Nyambaria High School to Kemera market.
Apparently, the road, which is under the Kemera-Amabuko project which is yet to be completed, does not have bumps.
Mr. Ammon Omwenga, a clinical officer at the health center, said three of the survivors were referred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for further treatment.
Five of the survivors who sustained minor injuries are still undergoing treatment at the health facility with the body of the deceased moved to KTRH.
Early this month, the country lost 58 passengers in a Kericho accident, precipitating to stringent measures by the state to curb such tragedies.
