Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi released Mohamud Hussein Aden and Juliet Njoki on a Sh1 Million bond or alternative cash bail of Sh500, 000.

While granting the bond terms on Tuesday, the Magistrate ordered the accused persons to deposit their passports in court.

The Magistrate said that the prosecution had failed to provide sufficient reasons to deny the accused persons bond or bail

Aden and Njoki have been in police custody since August 19 when they were arrested over Mukhtar’s attempted murder.

Two weeks ago the accused persons denied a charge of attempting to kill Mukhtar and his lawyer Charles Kanjama.

The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji had asked the court not to release the accused persons, saying they are a threat to Mukhtar’s security.

The former Garissa CEC is fighting for his life at Nairobi Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Garissa Governor Ali Korane is among people who were interrogated in relation to the attempted murder.
