Prophet Owuor's Church is accused by one family for brainwashing one of their family members, a former lawyer.
The family of Jane Njagi, a former partner at J M Njagi Advocates, says that the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness brainwashed their kin Jane Njagi to abandon her lucrative job to become a bishop in the ministry.
The family members said the church convinced the former lawyer to surrender her house located at Rahpta Road, Westlands, to the church which is currently being used as a bible study station.
They also accused the church of using Ms Jane Njagi's property to finance its projects.
Ms Jane is said to have also sidelined her family to a level of missing her mother's burial. The family said she was never concerned nor bothered to visit her ailing mother and when the mother passed on she could not attend the burial ceremony.
However, the church's lawyer Kimani Watenga has defended the church by saying Jane Ngagi did what any other Christian could have done.
"She offered the house to the church willingly, the church prayed for her son and in return she gave her property to the church," said the lawyer.
The family is now calling upon authorities to secure their kin's property. Jane is said to have become so forgetful until the church had one of the members to act as the director of Jane's finances, a move that has angered the family.
