Youths from Bomatara Village, Nyakoe Location, Nyakoe ward in Kisii County have asked NEMA to intervene and rescue them after the field they have been using for matches was turned to a dump site by a Chinese company.
Speaking to Hivisasa, Bernard Omanda a youth from the area said the ground which belongs to Kanunda Secondary was turned to a dump site by a Chinese company which is constructing Ahero-Kisii highway.
They further allege that the administration might have been bribed to release the field for dumping by the company.
"A teacher whose name cannot be mentioned here was paid some cash and the field was used as a dump site by a Chinese company doing Ahero-Kisii highway. The field is in a pathetic condition, not usable. As per the information I have from reliable sources, the Chinese company was to level the field, which hasn't been done till now.," said Bernard Omanda.
"I have followed the matter by reaching people whom I thought would help have this mess addressed, all in vain. The BOM of both primary and secondary school are aware, they are only pretending to act over this issue. The area chief is aware, no action so far," he added
The youth have tried to reach area MCA John Amisi but in vain.
"The bitter part of the whole story, we tried reaching the area MCA John Amisi only to get a childish response, John Amisi said he won't do anything claiming to have gotten 40 votes from Kanunda polling station, Kanunda FC has no practicing field which has negatively affected their performance of late," alleged Omanda.
Hivisasa reached out to the director NEMA Kisii Leonard Ofula who promised to follow up the matter and make sure the issue is sorted amicably.
