The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party will hold major demonstrations across the country to push for stern punitive measures against the corrupt, it has emerged.
According to the party Chair in Nairobi county George Aladwa, the opposition leader Raila Odinga-led party has already agreed on the same as an option against the runaway corruption in the country.
Speaking on Radio Citizen's Mjadala Wa Citizen Monday morning, the Makadara MP said that the tack is aimed at salvaging President Uhuru Kenyatta's graft-ridden leadership.
"Kutakuwa na mass action kubwa Kenya nzima. Lazima tumsaidie Uhuru kupigana na ufisadi. Na nikiongea namwakilisha Raila (on behalf of Raila, I can say that we will have major mass actions to help the president in his fight against graft)," he said.
Aladwa, however, noted that the exercise will be peaceful, but explained that it will be a heavily attended national affair, which will happen in all the 47 counties.
He said that the Nairobi edition of the same will be held at the historical Uhuru Park grounds, under the leadership of top politicians uncomfortable with the state of things in Kenya.
"Hii itafanyika Kenya nzima, na sisi tukiongea tumeongea. Pia yatakuwa maandamano ya amani. Pale Nairobi yatakuwa Uhuru Park (it will be done arose the country and at Uhuru Park in Nairobi. They will be peaceful demonstrations), he added.
This comes a year after the Uhuru-Raila truce that has seen the leaders enjoyba close working relationship.
