A couple of leaders from Nyamira on Sunday backed Chief Justice David Maraga over petition seeking his removal for allegedly attending functions at his Nyamira backyard.
Justice Maraga is one of Supreme Court Judges facing petitions at the JSC which could subsequently lead to his unceremonious removal should he be found culpable of misconduct.
Governor John Nyagarama said: "It's a fact that he comes from Nyamira and he has a right to attend all social functions. Those trying to politicise operations of judiciary must stop. We shall deal with those trying to remove him."
Senator Okong'o Mogeni warned that Maraga's removal could lead to anarchy, adding that Gusii community will no longer sit and watch him being intimidated by selfish leaders.
"It's an embarrassment that someone wants him removed for just attending social functions. They are now telling us that he should not even attend a funeral at his home. They won't have it easy."
Others who condemned attempt to remove Maraga include Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi and Kisii Governor James Ongwae.
The leaders were attending funerals service of former Alliance High School Deputy Principal Nyangena Tendeka at Nyaronge village on Sunday.
