President Uhuru Kenyatta has reportedly said that he 'doesn't have any problem with Raila Odinga succeeding him in 2022, the Saturday Nation reports.

In a closed-door meeting that saw MCAs from the region blocked from attending the meeting at Kisumu State Lounge, Siaya Senator James Orengo is said to have ignited the succession debate.

"We would be happy if your excellency considers offering your support for Mr Odinga to continue with your March 9 peace deal of uniting the country and enhancing good governance," Mr Orengo reportedly told the President.

Throughout the entire period, Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga reportedly sat listening carefully to the leaders from Nyanza region air their grievances besides dwelling on succession debate.

Also discussed in the meeting that started at 7pm on Thursday to 12am on Friday were infrastructural development, water hyacinth, revamping of sugar industry and compensation of post election victims.

While addressing the leaders, Uhuru reportedly said he had no problem with Raila succeeding him but was a little bit cautious, saying that 'however, only God knows'.

The president also visited Mr Odinga's Bondo home on Friday where the two held a closed-door meeting that lasted for 30 minutes before joining other dignitaries.

In the meeting, only Orengo, Jimmy Wanjigi, Ida Odinga and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino were allowed to attend despite the presence of many local leaders in Opoda Farm.
