Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has vowed to rally North Eastern region and the pastoralists community to reject the push for a referendum.
Duale says that North Eastern is not and will not be party to the push to amend the 2010 constitution.
The leader of Majority in the National Assembly maintains that the push to amend the 2010 constitution is not genuine.
According to Duale, they will not support a referendum that seeks to have the number of counties reduced or merged.
Duale also says that they will not agree to have the number of constituencies reduced.
"Our stand as North Eastern and pastoralists community is that we will not support any amendment to the 2010 constitution," he said on Saturday.
Duale said that the plebiscite is not a priority for Kenyans.
He said that the country is facing serious issues and that the referendum should not be the subject right now.
The Jubilee MP further claimed that those pushing to amend the 2010 law are seeking and bargaining for power in 2022.
Duale asked Kenyans to reject the referendum push and support President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big Four development agenda.
The referendum debate continues to rage on with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga terming it unstoppable.
