Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo is now proposing scrapping of certain political seats in a bid to lower the ballooning wage bill and guarantee development to Kenyans.

Kabogo claims that the country’s development agenda will stagnate if nothing is done to tame the rising wage bill.

He observed that the government is being forced to borrow more to fund its activities because of the high wage bill.

Kabogo now wants Women Representative seats and MCA seats scrapped out. He also wants the number of MPs reduced to 47.

Kabogo observes that money will be saved and used on development these political seats are scrapped.

“We should only have 47 governors, 47 MPs and 47 senators,” the former Kiambu county boss said on Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinage Live (JKL) on Wednesday.             

Kabogo added that Kenyans are being overburdened with taxes to pay for irrelevant political positions.

He noted that he will support calls to have the constitution amended in order to scrap some seats.

Several politicians among them Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria have been calling for the scrapping of some political seats to ease the pressure on Kenyans to foot for their salaries and other costs that comes with their offices.
