Police in Kilimani, Nairobi, have finally managed to arrest a suspected lone burglar who has been harassing residents of up markets estates in the city.
Michael Joseph Odhiambo alias 'Spiderman' was nabbed on Friday while in possession of items, among them electronics, which the police believe have been stolen from residents.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed that he was arrested at Green House building in the city and will be arraigned to face stealing charges.
The DCI in a tweet said that other items found in the possession of the suspect at the time of the arrest also included a hacksaw, laptops and a ransack bag.
"Officers based in Kilimani yesterday arrested Mr. Michael Joseph Otieno Odhiambo alias ‘Spiderman’ at Greenhouse Building for the offence of burglary & stealing.
The suspect was nabbed with several laptops, Pliers, a Cutter, a Hacksaw and a Ransack bag. Suspect charged in Court," reads the tweet, according to the Standard.
He was arraigned in court later in the day where the judge allowed the police to hold him for 8 more days pending investigations, including if he is part of a gang.
The latter got the nickname after he was captured on CCTV cameras scaling walls and climbing buildings, apparently to gain access to his targets, dressed in a spiderman costume.
Prior to his arrest, some residents had made reports of losing their belongings from their homes, including a gun and money reportedly stolen from a safe in one of the houses.
