A village in Nyakach sub-county is a mourning a young man after he was attacked and killed instantly by a rogue hippo while herding cows.

The 19-year-old man met his death along river Nyando on Wednesday, October 31. 

Nyalunya location chief Kenneth Omondi Mboya, said the deceased was alone during the attack.

Mboya noted that those who were passing by heard him shouting, but when rushed to the scene, they found the man’s body lying lifeless on the grass. 

Confirming the incident, chief Mboya cautioned the locals to be wary of the hippo and avoid moving closer to the area where the incident took place. 

The body was taken to Nyakach sub-county hospital mortuary.
