In a notice to the squatters living in the land at Kiplombe on the outskirts of Eldoret town, the hospitals' management says they have been occupying the land illegally hence should vacate before elapse of the notice.

The hospital further warned that if the squatters will still be occupying the land at the end of the notice, they will be forcefully evicted.

“As you are aware, the government allocated 200 acres from the Eldoret GK prisons land – a land that you have been occupying illegally – to the hospital for the construction of a new 2,000-bed multi-specialty MTRH,” reads part of the notice dated July 20, 2018 that bears the official stamp of the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Wilson Aruasa.

“You are therefore required to remove all your possessions during the 21 days’ notice,” it added.

The notice will run concurrently from August 1, 2018, to August 22, 2018.

An order for those living in the land to vacate is an indication that construction works for the Sh28 billion hospital is near groundbreaking.

“The processing for the new hospital is well on course and once we are ready for the groundbreaking ceremony, we will let you know,” Dr Aruasa recently told the press in Eldoret when asked over the project.
