Police have arrested a teacher who allegedly 'kicked' a 15-year-old pupil to death in Makueni County.
Confirming the incident, Kibwezi police commander Ben Chagulo said the teacher had been locked up at Kibwezi police station awaiting to be arraigned in court.
Chagulo said police had launched investigations into the matter that occurred at Mikuyuni primary school on Thursday.
"We won't relent until we get to the root of the matter," Chagulo said.
He addressed the press in his office on Friday.
Chagulo said a postmortem will be conducted on the body to find answers to the mystery surrounding the incident.
He had earlier asked the locals to launch official complaints concerning the incident.
"We can't speculate on what happened unless a postmortem is conducted and the results given, those saying the teacher beat the child should launch complaints," Chagulo said.
The deceased was rushed to Kibwezi Amref Hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead shortly after admission.
The body was moved to Makindu Hospital's mortuary.
Irate residents camped at the hospital's gate calling for the teacher's arrest after the boy's demise.
