A 10-year old boy has died after he was run over by an ox-cart in Masinga, Machakos County.
The minor died on the spot following the incident that occurred in Mukusu area on Monday.
His 11-year-old cousin who had accompanied him broke his leg.
The two boys had taken organic manure to the family farm when the tragedy struck.
The incident was confirmed by Masinga deputy county commissioner Francis Siror who said the ox-cart that had carried them lost control and hit a stone causing them to fall before it due to the impact.
"They had just left home to take manure to the shamba when the ox-cart hit a stone, throwing them off balance where they fell before it," Siror said.
Siror said at that time, one of the boys was stepped on the head thus dying on the spot while the other one was stepped on the leg which got broken.
The injured minor is receiving treatment at Matuu Level 4 Hospital while the deceased's body was removed to Matuu Mediance mortuary.
Siror advised parents to ensure small kids are accompanied when sent somewhere to prevent such tragedies.
"Stop sending your kids with ox-carts without any adult with them. If in this case there was an adult, maybe the incident would have been prevented," he said.
