Members of a local church in Chebilat, Nyamira County have lamented over increasing cases youths smoking bhang.
The faithfuls of Jesus Ministries argued that youths have been smoking bhang in public and no legal action is being taken.
"It is shocking that youths have fully ventured into bhang smoking without police officers or local administrators taking legal action. It is high time Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba ensures those selling and smoking bhang are brought to book," said Elviner Moraa as reported by Egesa FM.
Another church member Robert Moenga protested that youths have dropped out of school because of bhang smoking.
He decried that youths smoke bhang next to the church buildings something which makes faithfuls uncomfortable when holding daily late evening prayers.
"We want police officers to wake and flush out those smoking bhang failure to which cases of insecurity will be on the rise because the youths may be forced to steal to get money to buy bhang," said Moenga.
In a quick rejoinder, Mariba vowed to ensure cases of bhang smoking and selling comes to an end.
"I urge locals to be patients as police investigate the claims. The government has not legalized bhang trade," said Mariba.
