Laikipia MP Catherine Waruguru has caused a storm after she was kicked out of a hotel in Kericho over lack of a marriage certificate.
The Women Rep has a litany of questions to the hotel’s management and among them is what wrong it is when two adults decide to share a room.
“What is the hotel’s business if two adults decide to share a room and do their extracurricular activities at night?” Waruguru asked.
She narrated how embarrassed she was when they were kicked out of the hotel at night.
They had booked a room in the hotel with her man Wakili Kiprotich Kigen but were later kicked out after they failed to produce a marriage certificate.
“Where in the constitution is it required that you must table prove of marriage to enjoy yourselves if you are adults? This embarrassment and discrimination by the hotel must come to an end,” she said.
In Nakuru, another hotel known as Muriu's Guesthouse does not also allow people to enjoy a room if they cannot table a document to prove marriage.
