Following the newly released report on county developments, it has emerged that Garissa county has spent zero shillings in new projects, a fact that residents say illustrates that there is nothing going on in the county.
In her latest financial audit report, the controller of budget Ms Agnes Adhiambo cites recurrent expenditure as the major reason why the county government has not initiated new development projects.
The report stated that Garissa county spent a massive Ksh 3.73 Billion shillings on recurrent expenditures like staff remuneration.
Similarly, the county's expenditure at domestic travel and tours stood at Ksh 67.32 Million with another massive ksh 24.9 million being spent by the county assembly while another cool ksh 42.4 million being channelled to the county executive.
Residents of Garissa town who spoke to this writer allege that if the matter on county expenditure is not addressed then the county will continue being among the poorest counties in the country despite being a home of most seasoned and powerful politicians in the current Jubilee regime.
